About Bipendra Lama
My name is Bipendra Lama, and I was born and raised in Darjeeling – in the shadow of Kanchenjunga, the world's third-highest mountain. For the past 21 years, guiding has been more than just my work. It's been my way of sharing the mountains, the birds, the monasteries, and the culture that shaped who I am.
I don't do standard tours. Every journey is personal, flexible, and designed around you – whether you're a birder tracking rare species, a spiritual seeker visiting sacred sites, or simply someone who wants to experience the Himalayas beyond the tourist trail.
Growing Up in the Himalayas
I grew up surrounded by nature and Buddhism. My connection to Pemayangtse Monastery – one of Sikkim's oldest and most sacred sites – runs deep. I understand the dharma not as an outsider, but as someone who was raised with it. That perspective shapes how I guide people through these spiritual landscapes.
21 Years of Guiding
Since starting in the early 2000s, I've led hundreds of tours across Sikkim, Darjeeling, West Bengal, and Bhutan. From solo travelers to small groups, from wildlife photographers to Buddhist practitioners – I've learned to adapt every journey to what my clients need.
Birding & Wildlife Expertise
I've been a dedicated birder for over two decades. The Eastern Himalayas are one of the world's top birding destinations, and I know where to find species like the Satyr Tragopan, Fire-tailed Sunbird, and Rufous-throated Wren-Babbler. If it flies in these mountains, I can help you find it.
